The Charpy impact test is used to evaluate the material toughness to impact and measure the necessary energy to fracture one specimen. The Charpy test pendulum is used in researches of Materials Science and Engineering. Despite of its wide use, the old Charpy test pendulums are rudimentary and the obtained information from the test execution are not enough precise and the use is limited. The correct electronic instrumentation of the pendulum and the test process automation and control allows more accuracy and reliability on the ob-tained results. The main purpose of this work is to develop one automatic data acquisition system to update the old Charpy test pendulums. Electronics sensors were used on the automa-tion of the Charpy test pendulum.
